Questions & Answers for Singer 2932

Question
Where is the "thread take up lever?"
I am brand new to this and thought w/ "automatic threader" I could figure this out. I did the bobbin but I'm stuck at the part of the instructions that say to wind the thread through the "thread take up lever." The diagram shows something protruding in that space, but there's nothing like that on the actual machine. What am I missing? I'm just before packing this up and returning it...

There is a plastic lever on the left side of where the needle is. Push that down and you will find the "something protruding" that is the thread take up lever. The only catch with the automatic threader is the needle has to be in just the right place for the threader to go through.
I was excited about the "automatic needle threader as well, but I found it's really easier to thread the needle myself.

Turn the handwheel (on the right of the machine) TOWARDS you and you will see the take up lever move where you bring the thread down to the needle.

Most older/antique sewing cabinets were made for flat bed sewing machines. The SINGER 2932 sewing machine is a free arm machine and will not fit correctly into the space. You'll need to modify the opening to hold the machine in place.
