I use "bobbin fill" in white with most of my designs. There was a project that I did with a lot of black in the design so I used a black bobbin fill for that project. The bobbin fill is a lighter weight thread so you can fit more thread on the bobbin rather than using the embroidery thread.

It is important to use only the style of bobbin that came with your machine. Using the incorrect type of bobbin or pre-wound bobbins in your machine may cause tension, bobbin case or timing issues. The Futura uses 15J bobbins.

We also recommend using spun/poly bobbin fill for embroidery like those from Sulky, Madeira, Mettler, Gutterman and Robison-Anton. Bobbin fill comes in white or black. Poly Filament bobbin fill stretches when winding the bobbin and cause puckering in your designs and also problems in the bobbin case area.

Some people say to use bobbin fill, but I like to use the same colour and type of thread top and bottom. I know that makes for many bobbins of thread, but I myself don't mind just loosening the hoop and moving it to take out and put in another bobbin to match, and continue the item I'm working on. Also, you can make sure after long runs that no lint build up occurs, that could jam or clog the machine. Also using bobbin fill can make for more difficult tension adjustments, especially in show off work like embroidery. Who would want white loops appearing in dark coloured work, or wasting a lot of material setting up the machine for one top thread and then having to do it again and again, same type, same setting through the entire project is the way I like to work and play.

Yes, any Mac that will run Windows programs, should be able to run your Windows based software. If in doubt, ask your Mac dealer to install your CD in the machine at the store. Make sure your Mac is capable or running software written specifically for Windows. If not, then Windows based software won't run on your Mac/Apple Computer.

Our software partner tested FUTURA3 (CE-150, CE-250, CE-350) on these Macintosh PC Windows emulators and came to the following results :

- FUTURA will work fine on both ‘Parallel’s desktop’ and ‘Fusion’, amongst the two would definitely recommend ‘Fusion’ as the choice of preference.

-This,however, goes only for latest models of Apple PC’s that incorporate an Intel based processor – will not work for older models that have a ‘RISC’ processor model – as these emulation software applications are not designed for ‘Risc’ processors (Apple made the switch exactly two years ago, so any model after that time would be OK).

As such, there is absolutely no hindrance to fully utilize the FUTURA product (models CE-150, CE-250, CE-350 only) on all (latest generation) Apple computers.

If you have the CE-150/250/350 version we suggest you use the "speed limiter" before sending the block or design. This feature seems to help with bobbin thread tension issues.

You can also adjust the needle tension to a lower setting.

Question
How can I reset the timing on my Futura CE-250?
The thread knotted under the feed plate and stopped the bobbin cage moving, causing the timing to mess up.

I have had this happen a few times before I realised how to avoid it, in my case I found by not allowing the bobbin to completely empty it avoided the bunching up under the plate, it is a bit wasteful in bobbin fill but better than losing your project: The timing is easy, Set your computer to never go to sleep whilst you are sewing, that way the stitch counter on the screen is always visable, if the screen goes to sleep, that bit disappears, annoying as it is.. so make sure your computer is awake all the time your machine is in action and your stitch counter is there, if your machine stops for some reason, just make a note of the stitch count it was at, when you restart the machine just go back about 10 or 12 stitches and it will pick it up for you BUT be sure you replace the hoop the same way you had it before your stoppage, or it wont align

Thank you for contacting Singer. Timing is not something that a user can set. This needs to be done by a trained technician. If the machine has jammed, most likely the bobbin case retaining bracket will need to be replaced also. If you need to locate a service center near you, please visit our website at singerco.com and you can find a location in your area.

Thank you.

Question
Machine acts differently on the same design?!
Here's my issue. I made a design, which I tested couple times and it was just fine. However, when I actually decided to start working with that design on non-test piece of fabric, it was acting very steange. First of all the fabric and the thread I've used was the same for test and non-test item. So, the first time design transfered just fine. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th it wasn't moving! so the machina made whole bunch of stitches on the same (center) spot. Does anyone know why? Also, does it matter n what file extention to save the design as long as futura software accepts it?

I had that happen. I used a heavier stabilizer and that seemed to help. The not moving issue can also be a problem with the bobbin.

If it sews one block fine but is not moving for additional blocks, there are a couple of possibilities.
1. Connection to the machine and unit is not 100%. Check that the unit is locked in place with no gap between the machine and unit
2. Actual project could be something heavy that the unit cannot drag around which would prevent the arm from moving properly.

If it you're sewing the same design multiple times
1. Could be same as above - project is preventing the arm from moving
2. Bobbin case jam - which prevents the arm from moving.

Do a test again on the sample fabric - if it works here then we would have to assume that there is something about the project that is preventing free movement of the arm.

When saving designs you can use the FHE or CHE format. These will keep the colors that are displayed on screen. When importing designs we have found that the HUS, VIP, and SHV formats open with very close to the true colors of the design. PES, PEC, PCS, DST, SEW and JEF will not. They will open in very random colors.

I bought my CE150 and CE 250 from a local retailer, (LINCRAFT) in Australia of course, but you can purchase direct from any Singer Stockist in your area, and yes you can buy online too but the postage would be a bit hefty.. google singer stockist in your area, it would be the cheapest option. Good luck

No maximum, each design is split into "blocks" as you go through your design, you will need to change the thread to the colour requested in that block until all blocks have been stitched, so if your design required 10 colours then you will have 10 colour changes, the machine will tell you how many blocks are in your design, so before you start, you will know how many colour changes you need,, of course you can reduce the amount of colours if you want by stitching more than one block in the same colour if that is ok with your design

You can use a different color for each embroidery block that is sent to the machine. For example, if the embroidery design has 4 separate blocks then you can use 4 different colors.

Question
Why does my needle keep breaking?
Everytime I have a design that needs sewing to the far left, my needle ends up hitting the embroidery presser foot on the back side. I have taken the presser foot off and reinstalled it but it keeps hitting it and breaking the needle. Any suggestions?

answer 2
In this case it may be that the thickness of the item is preventing the foot from lowering completely. Below are some troubleshooting ideas:

With just the embroidery unit connected (no hoop), attach the embroidery foot. Lower the presser foot and then hand turn the needle down into the throat plate (rotating the handwheel toward you only). The presser foot should sit squarely on the bed of the machine. The needle should be nearly centered in the opening. If the foot does not rest flat on the throat plate or the needle is nearly touching one of the sides, then the foot is bent. If it's okay then attach the hoop.

Make sure you've hooped the fabric correctly. Many hand embroiderers will hoop with the fabric on top and the inside hoop under the fabric. This makes even the thinnest fabric sit too high. This will not allow the foot to lower completely. You need to have the inside hoop visible.

A long jump stitch over to the new area may pull or bend the needle. If you know there is a big jump from one part of the embroidery area to another, you may want to stop the machine using the stop/start button. Raise the presser foot then use the needle up/down button to move over to the new block (sewing area). Lower the presser foot and then resume sewing.

If these troubleshooting suggestions don't correct the issue, please contact Customer Service. Contact information can be found here: http://bit.ly/kXFvIk
